Study Abroad Mentoring

When a person has a child, he/she desires him/her to be successful like him/herself as a parent. We are all trying to support our children within our means. I have always tried to provide this for my daughter Alya and I am still trying to support her. In my career, the role of education is very big, what I know best is to be successful by working and as a result, to get rewards in business life. In developed countries, this system is still valid, and in Turkey, unfortunately, I think that it has suffered a serious depreciation in this area for the last 10 years.

Our constantly changing education system, our uncontrollably growing number of universities, the problems of high unemployment among young people who have graduated from university are our biggest problems.

While my daughter Alya Coşkun was in 7th grade at MEF Ulus Istanbul, my wife and I began to think that our daughter would choose to study abroad (UK). Our main idea was that it would be better for our daughter to adapt to the UK education system if she started her education abroad at an early stage. Although we have seen that this idea is true, we have tested different experiences by encountering problems that we cannot predict, and we are still continuing our journey on this path.

Alya started her education life as a boarding student at The Leys School in Cambridge, England in 2018. She completed a 3-year process and was successful in the GSCE exams and is currently continuing the A Level process. We, as a whole family, lead a life between Cambridge and Istanbul.

I have tried to help many of my friends with requests from them (education in the UK for their children) and I am still doing this within my own experience and knowledge. Unfortunately, this preparation and attendance process does not end with placing your child in a school in England. You may encounter many problems such as the differences of living in a foreign country, the psychological adaptation of you and your child, the unknowns of the new education system.

My goal is to help families who are thinking of taking this path as professionally as possible, including choosing a counsellor, preparing the family and your child for the process, supporting them as an academic in problems encountered during the school process, and working together on many different issues that you can think of. I am a father who was born in Samsun in 1970 and completed his entire educational life by studying in Public Schools and eventually became a doctor, surgeon and academician. I have never been discriminated against in my own educational life. Having successfully passed the state university exams, I had the opportunity to study at the best universities in Turkey (Ankara University Faculty of Medicine / Istanbul University Istanbul (Çapa) Faculty of Medicine Department of General Surgery) and I successfully reached my current position.
